Make Known Her Favor!

I discovered St. Rita as a new Catholic nearly twenty years ago. At my lowest ebb, I petitioned her for a professional favor and was granted a true miracle!

Fast-forward to last fall. Preparing to teach a course on the life of Rita at my Augustinian parish, I prayed at the small shrine we have containing her statue, and noticed another example of her power: a parishioner left a thank-you note praising Rita for helping her to get a job--an echo of the same favor she did for me and for so many others.

The message is clear, folks: Make known her favor!!! May her followers grow in number and may her feast day become the biggest celebration imaginable!

As of last week, there are now two thank-you cards gracing Rita's shrine, the second also referencing a longed-for job from a despairing mother in honor of her son. This one contained a one-verse hymn of praise to our saint in Spanish. In these hard times, there can be no better witness to Rita's power!
